If you don't have a website and you have any kind of business you are losing out to others who do have one. For instance two business people decide to send out some fliers and the only difference between the two is that one has a website and prints it on the flier. The other doesn't and simply sends out fliers hoping people will call.

Who is going to be considered the most credible?

I'll tell you, its the one with the website. They are two honest working people, working in the same line of business, but one has a website to refer to. This makes a huge difference. Prospects need a website to be able to explore in the privacy of their own home. Exploring is something people like to do, they feel more comfortable seeing what it is that you do and have to offer before they call you.

Why don't we take pest control for example. A couple notices they are seeing an increased number of bugs and insects within the walls of their home. They talk about calling a place to have come out and spray to solve their problem of infestation.

Weeks go by and they've procrastinated enough to where the house is almost unbearable and nothing has been done about it. One day the mail comes and there is a stack of “junk mail”. Just about everything you can think of, credit card applications, free CD offers, etc. Also, among the mail was a couple of post cards advertising two different companies that take care of insects domestically.

This happens a lot. People have a problem, know how to fix it, but don't act because they don't know where to go. Traditional marketing has provided a solution to the problem and the two post cards reveled that.

Fantastic! One of the companies has a website and the other doesn't. A quick check of the website showed prices, types of services, and many articles written by the owner about pest control and suggestions about the types of service available depending upon what kind of infestation is existing.

The couple forgets they had received two post cards because they are so pleased with the website where they are able to compare prices easily. They have most of their questions answered by the information provided by the website. They are now ready to contact the company and schedule an appointment. So they contacted them through the website and within days their insect problem was solved.


Its not enough just to have a website. The couple could have easily stayed in that position of idleness not knowing what to do about their problem if the website hadn't been so great. Meaning, you can't expect that by having a website that people will respect you and want your business. You've got to earn it, gain the trust of your prospects. You have to make sure you've got a website that establishes that and covers all the important points that make a successful website. Design, content, technology, etc.

If you don't have a website for your business, you should with out a doubt, no question. Period. But not just any website, you need one that will work for you, and help you establish a relationship of trust early on, even before you meet your prospective clients. Its crucial and most effective in the success of anyone in the business of making money.
